Lacey Maker Space is Open for Business!
The founding partners include St. Martin’s University, the City of Lacey, and the Center for Business & Innovation (a division of the Thurston County Economic Development Council – EDC)
Michael Cade, Executive Director of the EDC said this about the LMS genesis, “The founding LMS partners share a vision that seeks a collaborative approach to growing an entrepreneurial and innovative economy in the region. The South Puget Sound area now has a recognized center to support that entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
In addition to the three core founding partners, the LMS garnered support from more than a dozen companies and organization throughout the region including the Port of Olympia, South Puget Sound Community College, SCJ Alliance, Forma Construction and BrightWire Networks. Each of these organizations donated their time, talent, and resources to help fulfill the vision of the LMS.
We are proud to recognize BrightWire Project Engineer Matthew Bowles and his volunteer work with the LMS. Matthew was key in the design and implementation of the LMS information technology environment, which included a central server system, an array of networked computers and print technologies, and secure wireless connectivity. Matthew was able to source the needed components from donations and spare parts from BrightWire clients, that would have otherwise been recycled, or discarded. Through Matthew’s volunteer spirit and resourcefulness, the LMS ended up with core data network that will serve their mission well for the next several years!
At the LMS Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Matthew and his fellow volunteers were recognized by LMS leadership for their much-appreciated work. Congratulations Matthew and all the volunteers that made the LMS opening possible!
